YDEAS - "Young Developers and Entrepreneurs to Advance Start-ups" (YDEAS II)
The accelerated technological transformation has been raising growing concerns regarding its impact on employment, with subsequent risks especially in fragile contexts that may be less equipped to adapt to a fast-evolving economic environment.

The OSCE Economic and Environmental Dimension (EED) commitments call for promoting skills' development, quality education and life-long learning, sustainable and innovative business models and equitable working conditions in order to limit the potentially disruptive impact of digitalization on labour markets and support the economic empowerment of individuals, particularly women and youth. In line with these commitments and in support of ongoing education and incubation efforts, the second edition of the YDEAS project will aim at expanding opportunities for skills’ development and job creation, improving the employability of youth and women and promoting an enabling environment for innovative, socially-impactful and green start-ups.
To address the multiple challenges posed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, particularly in light of the post COVID-19 scenario, the project will focus on the following axes of work:
Upskilling of young people aged 18-25 from the Western Balkans’ region, to improve their innovative entrepreneurial capacities:A Scholarship programme at the European Innovation Academy (EIA), a recognized leader in tech entrepreneurship education, will be offered to up to 30 candidates. The course will provide upskilling and networking opportunities that can trigger the establishment of innovative, socially-impactful and green start-ups at regional level;
A set of community-based activities, including Innovation Week-Ends, Hackatons, workshops and seminars, to improve the dissemination of digital knowledge and capacities in under-served communities.
Networking, access to market and investment to provide innovators and start-uppers a platform for interaction, networking and exchange of ideas:Establishment of a virtual platform as a space for interaction for the YDEAS community of social innovators, including investors, support services and other businesses to foster business planning, networking, exchange of projects, education and work opportunities;
Networking and continuous learning opportunities for entrepreneurs from different OSCE regions and networks of social enterprises through events, consultation workshops, study tours to Vienna and Bratislava, and a Regional Connectivity Meeting.
Policy-relevant dialogue to reduce skills’ mismatch and support a positive business climate for social and green enterprises in the Western Balkans:Elaboration of two Green Papers on The Future of Work in the Western Balkans and Social Economy in the Western Balkans to stimulate a fact-based, consultative process towards improved policy-making in these areas.
The project will build synergies and complementarities with the ongoing incubation/acceleration programmes and funding facilities, in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and in cooperation with relevant OSCE executive structures and Field Operations.
