ScreenSift - EIA23 (Porto)

My experience at this year's European Innovation Academy in Porto, as the OSCE scholarship recipient and the project my team and I presented - ScreenSift!

ScreenSift - EIA23 (Porto)

This year I got the opportunity to spend three weeks in Porto at the European Innovation Academy thanks to OSCE!

I officially applied with my own business idea, which is focused on the problem of the passiveness of people and inspired by and centered around Notion. As that idea was and still is in its early stages of development and as I was swept away by the spirit of EIA - in Porto I decided to focus on learning and helping others develop their ideas so I joined the team, which will come to be known as ScreenSift.

ScreenSift is an AI-powered video searching and sorting algorithm that can cut down on the lost time of working with large video databases by over 95%. It allows users to search for images and objects within videos and provides the location of the corresponding video frames.

I fully seized the rare opportunity to work in a very diverse environment, as my team members were:

  • Alexander Chen - USA (Alabama) - CDO
  • Sinian Li - China - CTO
  • Pratyush Gupta - India - CEO
  • Sarah Al-Attas - Singapore - CMO
  • Asja Spahalić - Bosnia and Herzegovia - CPO

ScreenSift was so well received that we were even in the top 5 teams nominated for The Ed Quinones Spark Award by Nixon Peabody! Saying we were excited and grateful is not even beginning to describe our feelings in the last days of EIA.

To keep this brief - I will end it by pointing out how much I gained from this experience and how enriched I feel thanks to it. Not only did I get to learn about business and from mentors from all walks of (business) life, but I got to meet my peers from all over the globe!
Now it is time for me to focus on my own business idea mentioned at the beginning and - by using all of the knowledge and experience from EIA - bring it to life!
